Personal Observations
Even though The Force Awakens was still a relatively new movie in 2017, the Rathtar and Bala-Tik set were the only figures to come from the movie all year. But hey, that's a lot better than zero! Since the 5POA line began, one thing that was missing that fans fondly remember from the old Kenner days were the beasts. This set is a starting point of bringing some of that fun back. Now we can make our own Rathtar chase scenes and even have the Rathtar eat figures! What fun! I'm serious! Just adding a creature like the Rathtar to your figure collection can add so much more to play and can help create so many fun, imaginary adventures for your figures. The Rathtar's tentacles all had to be attached, and can pretty easily be popped back off. This can get annoying if they fall off too easily, but it could also add to play value if you want to have your figures actually defeat this monster. Bala-Tik was a surprising, but welcome figure to see included in this pack. Hasbro could have just included a new or resculpted figure of a popular character like Han Solo, Finn or Rey, but instead they went and made an all new figure of a character that they had never made before. With Bala-Tik, now we have the leaders of both of the gangs that were hunting Han Solo (Tasu Leech being the other). While it is nice to finally get Bala-Tik, I don't think his figure really turned out that great. His sculpt isn't terrible, and he can sit and hold his weapon, but at least to me, his face just doesn't look right. Most of the figures from 2017's The Last Jedi line have pretty decent head sculpts and paint details, but Bala-Tik and the Han Solo figure from The Empire Strikes Back are not up to the standards of the rest of them. I think the main problem is that something just looks off with the eyes and the eyebrows. But take a look at the picture of the figure from the back of the package... he looks a lot better! It shows this figure could look a lot better, but something went wrong in production. Anyway, it's still a fun set to have, and if you can find it on sale, all the better!
