Personal Observations
Finally, we get Bistan! This was a standout character in some of the marketing for the movie, but the figure almost ended up being scrapped before it was released. Thankfully it was later sold by online store Entertainment Earth as an online exclusive. Bistan is a great addition to our Scarif Rebel army. Our number of Scarif Rebel troops is still only at three, apart from the hero characters, but at least is not horribly outmatched by the Imperials anymore. Bistan has a lot of detail on his outfit with quite a few different paint applications, but even so, the figure still seems to be lacking when you compare it to the movie character. The sculpt isn't bad, but the movie character was just so detailed, it's hard for a toy of this size to do him justice. His head really needed a lot more fine paint details to help him look closer to the movie character, but that amount of detail is just never going to happen in a low cost line like this. Bistan holds his blaster well and can sit, but because of that unbendable flap hanging down from his jacket, he won't be able to fit in many vehicles. His neck joint is actually very impressive. If you pop his head off, you can see it's a double joint. The post that the ball joint is on also moves, giving Bistan's head an amazing range of motion, similar to what was done with K-2SO. The shoulder mounted weapon is okay, but I would have preferred a blaster cannon more like what he used in the movie when he was aboard the U-Wing. Still, the projectile firing weapon can be fun, and brings a little extra firepower to the battle against the Empire. Overall, the figure is good, but still unfortunately seems lackluster when compared to the Bistan that we saw in the movie. Could he have been better at this scale and for this price? Probably not. But hey, at least he was made!
