Personal Observations
Commander Bly is our fifth Clone Trooper from Revenge of the Sith and our sixth in phase II style clone armor (Captain Rex from The Clone Wars being the other). That seems like a lot of clones in the first two years of the 5POA line, but when you look at how many different styles of clone armor there are in Episode III, we are still a long way from having them all. So, how did Hasbro do on this figure? Well...so-so. Commander Bly's sculpt is great. From what I can tell, he doesn't share any parts with any other previously made figure, including the similar looking Captain Rex. He has functioning holsters, a visor that can be positioned up or down, and he sits decently. But there's one major flaw: the paint job. Bly's mouth and the bodysuit under his armor should all be black, but for some reason they were left unpainted. I'm assuming it was just an oversight since these details are added on other Clone Troopers, but it's really a shame that this wasn't noticed before this figure left the factory. In the end, it's a decent figure, but is probably also the most disappointing in this line due to this one issue. It may not bother some people though. I wasn't sure I even wanted him at first, but now the lack of paint doesn't bother me so much anymore. For other people though, the poor quality control will be a deal breaker. |
