Personal Observations
Darth Maul is back, making his fourth appearance in the 5POA line and his second from The Phantom Menace. Initially I was disappointed that we were getting a remake of an already decent figure, but now that I have this guy in hand, I'm glad that he was made. This Darth Maul is in my opinion one of the best figures from the modern 5POA collection to date. Not only does he look great, he comes with loads of accessories! Maul's cloak is difficult to remove and put back on, but it is doable, and he looks good both ways. With the cloak on, he has very limited movement, but that's the price to pay if you still want to have a realistic looking sculpt. With the cloak off, Darth Maul can hold his lightsaber with both hands, thanks to his swivel elbows, or can hold half of it in each hand as the weapon separates at the middle. Maul can sit decently and just may be able to fit in some vehicles due to the rubbery quality of his robes. He also comes with his macrobinoculars, communicator wristband and one of his DRK-1 Probe Droids. The droid can be placed on a transparent stand so you can pretend that it's hovering, and a cool thing about the stand is that it has a ball joint at the bottom, enabling the droid to swerve as it dodges Qui-Gon's lightsaber or any other attack. This set goes to show how many movie accurate accessories can be included in these two packs instead of the typical massive made up weapons that are usually included. Overall, this is a fantastic figure from an equally fantastic set. This one may be tough to beat as the set of the year!
