Personal Observations
This is a fantastic Darth Vader figure and one that I have been waiting a long time for but just didn't know it. Featuring only five points of articulation, this figure brings back the magic, playability and sturdiness of the original Star Wars figures of the 1970's and '80's. One cool nostalgic feature that I really like is how the skirt is done in a similar style to the original Kenner figures, (Anakin Skywalker for instance), that keeps the look of a long robe or skirt, but splits like legs enabling your figure to kick or sit. Another nice feature is that Vader should be able to fit in most vehicles, a common feature of the figures in the original Kenner line. There is such an old time feel here that this Darth Vader is sure to be a hit with many long time collectors as well as young children. The 2013 Mission Series package, which is not pictured here, indicates that this character is based off his appearance in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, but since Darth Vader's costume changes so little, this figure fits in perfectly with all the Original Trilogy figures as well. As far as flaws go, my figure has a pretty loose grip on his lightsaber, no matter which hand you put it in. I'm not too sure about Hasbro's decision to go with a cloth cape either. Would a removable plastic cape have worked better? Maybe, but I can certainly tolerate this cape, and don't think this figure needs to be upgraded.
