Personal Observations
On launch day of The Force Awakens toys there were already four figures of Finn to collect: the basic figure with the buildable weapon, the solid black outfit version with the landspeeder, the one with the headset that is included with the Millennium Falcon, and the one that we are looking at here that came in the armor series. This figure is very similar to the basic figure. As far as I can tell, they are identical except for the addition of snow weathering on this figure. Finn really is a great looking toy and is a lot of fun too. The likeness of the character is really good and is easily recognizable as being John Boyega, the actor who played Finn. He has a ball jointed neck which gives his head a nice range of motion, and surprisingly doesn't harm the sculpt as much as ball joints on some other figures have done. Finn comes with a large gold colored blaster, that at least to me, doesn't look that great. It's just a strange color, and I'm suspecting that it won't look like this in the movie. Does he really have a golden blaster? We'll see in December when the movie comes out I guess. Unfortunately he doesn't come with a lightsaber, which is a little disappointing. Before the toy launch a movie poster and an official video were made public showing Finn wielding a blue lightsaber, so the toy wouldn't have really spoiled anything if it had included a lightsaber. Oh well, he can always borrow one from another figure. The armor piece probably won't show up in the movie. but could be fun if you want to create your own adventure for Finn in the snow. As you can see in the picture above, Finn has a pretty considerable lean when he sits, but fortunately he still can sit in some vehicles. Overall, I really do like this figure though, and he is one of my favorites out of the first batch of figures from The Force Awakens.
