Personal Observations
Poor Galen Erso. He got the worst of everything the Empire had to offer in Rogue One... but at least he got an action figure out of it! This was one of my top 5 Rogue One wish list characters for 2017, so I was pretty happy to get him this year. Unfortunately, this figure suffered from what you could call "last wave syndrome". Figures that come in the last wave of a particular line can often be difficult to find, and that was the case with Galen Erso. I have personally never seen this figure in a store and had to resort to finding the best deal possible online to get him. Galen comes with some odd accessories, as he wasn't seen carrying anything in the movie. I doubt the Empire would have allowed him to have a weapon, but this figure comes with both a blaster and a zip line to make a quick escape. If you want Galen's story to turn out differently than it did in the movie, these could come in handy. Also included is an Imperial Mouse Droid. I don't know why Galen was chosen to be the lucky figure to come with a Mouse Droid, but he was. The Mouse Droid is a fun little droid that you often see running around Imperial bases, so it should add a lot of play value when recreating scenes from any of the original trilogy era films. The panels on the sides of the droid come off though, so you will want to be careful that you don't lose them. Galen's sculpt is good, but I keep thinking that his head might be a little small. The beard stubble on his face looks a lot better than it does on Cassian Andor, so that's a major plus for this figure. The paint job on my figure's hair isn't great, but it would probably be difficult to find a better one. To some people this figure may seem a little boring, since Galen didn't see a whole lot of action and always seemed to be the victim of bad circumstances. But he is an essential character to the movie, and I'm glad that we got at least one figure of him. Just think how fun it would be to play out a scenario where Jyn actually gets to rescue her dad!
