Personal Observations
When the first batch of Rogue One figures first came out, this was the the one that I was looking forward to the most. At that point, I didn't know much about the main characters, but I really liked the look of this new Imperial. This character's helmet is clearly based off of the Death Star Gunner design, and at least to me, the Imperial Ground Crew looks more than any other new Imperial trooper like he or she could have appeared in A New Hope and not looked out of place. This figure comes with two batons, used to guide ships in to land, that can be stored nicely on the figures back, just like in the movie. Unlike other Imperials, the Imperial Ground Crew doesn't come with a blaster, but I think that's appropriate as I doubt the people guiding in the ships on a shielded planet are expecting to see any combat. However, this character does come with a jet pack or glider type of rig that you can use to make this spaceport worker fly into battle! This jet pack isn't seen in the movie, but it really is a nice accessory to have, and is one of the best non-movie accurate accessories that I have seen in a long time. It kind of reminds me of some of the last mini-rigs that were make for the old Power of the Force line in 1985. This one here is like having a little vehicle included with your figure! But, if you're not liking this jet pack, the good news is that this figure can also sit really well, and should be able to fit in most vehicles. An interesting thing that I noticed after I bought my Imperial Ground Crew is that this character is quite short with a slight frame. It's probably because some of the parts for this figure are re-used for Jyn Erso in disguise which came out soon after, but I still think that you could make a strong case for this anonymous Imperial being female. Overall, this is a fantastic figure, and one that I can find absolutely nothing wrong with.
