Personal Observations
The Jedi Temple Guard was both an unexpected and hard to find figure in this line. In the 5POA collection, most figure choices have been main characters, whereas this guard is just a minor character. He is a welcome addition to the collection though, and has been one of the most sought out figures in this line to date. The Jedi Temple Guard is really a very nice looking figure with all sorts of detail in his sculpt and paint detail. On his belt you can see what I'm guessing are keys, painted nicely in gold and silver. Are these for prison cells or secret rooms in the Jedi Temple? Who knows, but a mysterious character like this has all sorts of play potential. He also has some nice yellow details on his mask and chest that go well with his lightsaber color. As amazing as he looks though, there are a few minor drawbacks with this figure though. The main one for me is how he holds his lightsaber. As you can see, he holds it at an angle, and no matter which hand he holds it in, he's always in danger of stabbing himself in the leg. If he could have held it like the 5POA Darth Maul, it probably would have worked a lot better for battles and posing. The other little problem is that he's not going to be able to fit into many vehicles. It was probably unavoidable, due to the design of the character, but it's always a little disappointing when this isn't an option for a Star Wars figure. At least he can sit though, which is a plus. I had to look outside of my country to find this figure, but I'm glad I did. He could have been a bit better, but as he is, he's still a great one. |
