Personal Observations
A 5POA figure of Luke Skywalker in this outfit has been a long time coming. The original Kenner line got close with both the Jedi Knight and Combat Poncho versions, but neither were quite the outfit that Luke wore when he faced Darth Vader and the Emperor on the Death Star. The sculptor did a fantastic job here, giving us one of the best Luke Skywalker likenesses ever seen on an action figure. The paint job however, does have a few problems. The initial release of this figure, pictured above, has overly large eyes. The re-release, which came out in the first Rebels wave, seems to have corrected this. But like all Star Wars figures these days, the quality of the paint applications can still tend to get sloppy, so it pays to take a good look through your stores selection to make sure that you get the best looking one available. Luke's lightsaber looks to me to be a little on the yellow side. Maybe it's just me, but I think it might have looked more accurate if it was more green. As of this writing, Luke is still our only new Return of the Jedi figure in the 5POA line, but he is a good one, and a fine addition to my collection. Update: The photo above depicting two of this figure is a comparison of the original release on the left, and the Digital Commemorative Set figure on the right. The later figure has a few subtle improvements, like smaller eyes, no indented print on the leg and a lightsaber that looks more green than yellow. |
