Personal Observations
This vehicle featured prominently in the first teaser trailer, and since that time, fans eagerly awaited the day that it would be made into a toy. I'm not sure how popular this speeder with Rey is where everyone else lives, but where I am, I have still never seen it in a store in nearly four months after the toy came out. I fortunately was able to find mine on sale at an online store, and it arrived in the mail just after I saw the movie. The speeder is pretty cool, and is pretty much what you could hope for. Rey fits on the speeder nicely and as an added feature, you can press a button on the side and a blaster pops up. It's not movie accurate, but it's fun for play. Rey's quarterstaff can click on the side of the speeder for travel, and the net that is holding Rey's salvaged parts is removable. However, the salvage itself is not removable, so even though the net can be removed, maybe it isn't supposed to be. The two fins on the back of the speeder move, so if you like, you can pose them to look like Rey is taking a turn. Some other figures with a wider leg stance, like the Stormtrooper pictured above, are also compatible with the speeder, and for me, that's a really big plus. Rey herself is a completely different figure from the basic single carded figure. Due to her head coverings, her head can't turn, but it's still a separate piece from the rest of the torso. The color of the figure's outfit and staff is different from the basic figure, which is a bit annoying since this is the same outfit and weapon, but I'm happy to say, this is my only big complaint with this figure. I'm just glad we got this figure, as Rey was only seen briefly wearing this face covering in the movie. However, she did not use the face covering or goggles when she rode the speeder! If we're lucky, maybe that variant is still to come.
